Dr. Lian’s appearances in solo recitals includes presentations at the Teatro Colon during the Martha Argerich Festival, a recital in California playing on Vladimir Horowitz’ legendary piano, and a Carnegie Weill Hall debut thanks to the support and encouragement of his mentor Dr. Ana Maria Trenchi Bottazzi. He has also been featured as soloist with several orchestras under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Edgardo Cattaruzzi, Mariano Chiacchiarini, Kenneth Meints, and Rob Salistean.

Dr. Lian earned his Doctoral Degree in Piano Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln under the guidance of Dr. Paul Barnes. He has served as Artist-in-Residence at Linfield College (OR), and Visiting Artist at Kansas State University, McPherson College (KS), Nyack College (NY), New England Conservatory (MA), Southwest Baptist University (MO), Wayland Baptist University (TX) amongst others.

In March 2021, and thanks to his artistic and academic achievements, Dr. Lian became an American citizen.

He is the founder of “Pianists of the Americas”, a new festival in Portland (OR). He also published an article on “Clavier Companion” on a topic related to teaching strategies, which is one of his passions.

Dr. Lian recently performed and taught masterclasses at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, the Catholic University, and the University of Litoral in Argentina.

In October 2022 he performed a solo recital at Carnegie Weill Hall in New York, and has been added to the roster of “Who’s Who in America”.

During summers he is on faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule in Europe, having appeared as a soloist and clinician in Milan, Rome, Crotone, and Paris.
