Latin American Renaissance & Baroque Music

Experience the sounds of the Civil War era with the First Nebraska Volunteers Brass Band. Dressed in Union infantry uniforms, this ensemble performs authentic arrangements from Civil War band books, accompanied by historical narration that brings the music and stories of the period to life.

Celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary with a special Discovery Saturday at the National Music Museum (NMM) on Saturday, July 4. Visitors can enjoy special $2.50 museum admission while exploring the NMM’s special exhibition, "Of Thee I Sing: Origin, Heritage and Patriotism," which tells America’s story through the musical instruments, makers and traditions that have shaped our nation.

Join us May 2 for Discovery Saturday at the NMM! 
Live folk music, hands-on learning, and a special focus on military instruments. Explore America’s musical heritage at the National Music Museum’s Discovery Saturday. Enjoy live folk music and storytelling with Missouri Valley Music, featuring traditions from Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian, and Métis cultures. Demonstrations at 11am and 1pm. Plus, Blue Star Museums begins May 1—free admission for veterans and active-duty military families.

The National Music Museum (NMM) will present the spring concert of the Tatag! Gamelan Ensemble as a special NMM Live! performance on Friday, March 13, at noon in the Museum’s gamelan gallery. Admission is free.

Celebrate Discovery Saturday at the National Music Museum with a free concert by the Vermillion Children’s Choir on March 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the NMM’s Janet L. Wanzek Performance Hall.
