A Musical Journey: The National Music Museum | SDPB Documentary

Showcasing 5 years of work in the making, the NMM is fortunate to have had South Dakota Public Broadcasting at our side as we took the biggest leaps in our musical history. When the NMM closed its doors for a extension renovation and expansion project in 2018, things picked up behind the scenes as our staff and contractors fully emptied and re-imagined the historic Carnegie Library building.

Following the completion of the Center for Preservation and Research, and the new Lillibridge Wing, the NMM is now re-open with 7 all new permanent galleries, a special exhibitions hall, recital hall, and more.

This documentary follows some of that process, from the nitty gritty manual labor to the historical background, of how our newer and better than ever facilities came to be.

Explore, and enjoy!

The National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota has one of the most extensive and diverse collections of musical instruments in the world. In this SDPB Documentary, we take you to see priceless Italian violins, celebrity guitars, pipe organs, and musical instruments from many cultures around the world.
