Vermillion, SD — The National Music Museum at the University of South Dakota has been named a finalist for USA TODAY 10Best’s “Best Music Museum,” placing Vermillion on the national stage alongside the country’s most respected cultural institutions.

The nomination was made by a panel of experts and USA TODAY 10Best editors, who select museums from across the nation based on excellence, visitor experience, and cultural impact. Final rankings will be determined by public voting.

The collection includes some of the rarest and most important instruments in the world, from the oldest known cello to guitars owned by Elvis Presley and saxophones made by Adolphe Sax himself.
