Registration is now open for the 2026 AMIS conference at the National Music Museum in Vermillion, South Dakota, to be held May 27 – 31, 2026.
The American Musical Instrument Society is the preeminent society promoting all aspects of the history, design, construction, restoration, and usage of musical instruments in all cultures and from all periods. The AMIS annual conference rotates throughout the United States, landing in Vermillion every decade or so because of the importance of the collections at the National Music Museum. The Conference is generally attended by AMIS members and students, however any musical instrument enthusiast, maker, or collector is welcome to attend either by paying the non-member registration fee or joining AMIS and paying the member fee.
Early Bird registration is available before April 15 at a cost of $200 for students, $325 for AMIS Members, and $375 for non-members. After April 15, registration is $250 for students, $375 for Members, and $425 for non-members.
The fillable PDF registration is also available on the NMM website here or the AMIS website at https://www.amis.org/meetings. If you are unable to find the forms at either web location, contact the National Music Museum at 605-658-3450.

The registration form contains additional information on hotel rates, banquet menu options, transportation to/from Vermillion, and payment options. (Please note: local taxes are automatically added to registrations as required by the State of South Dakota.)
The 2026 AMIS meeting will feature informative sessions, special performances, tours of the newly-renovated (and still in progress) National Music Museum, a look at some of the most recent and important acquisitions, and the opportunity to visit the NMM’s newest off-site facility, the Center for Preservation & Research.
